How To Lose Weight – Calories, How Do I Reduce Them?

OK, so now you are asking the question “how to lose weight – calories, how do I reduce them?” It seems so difficult to count calories when you eating, and how are you supposed to even know how many calories you are supposed to eat? Well, good news! Follow a good healthy balanced diet and it will all be taken care of.

So, if calories are not the whole picture, what are the things you need to look out for? Well, a healthy balanced diet will have the following:

  • You will be allowed to eat a wide variety of food
  • You will be allowed to eat enough so you can exercise with safety
  • You will be able to eat more than only three meals a day
  • You will be encouraged to drink a lot of water
  • The eating plan will include foods from all the food groups
  • You will be allowed to eat a little fat for the fat soluble vitamins to be absorbed

You really have to be careful of not falling into the trap of trying a fad diet. These diets promise that you will lose an impossible amount of pounds in only a few days. Normally you are only allowed to eat very little and they are nothing but starvation diets.

Fad diets are very dangerous and for someone in poor health they can even be life threatening! Most of the time you hardly get in enough calories to keep your vital body function going. Your metabolism will slow down and weight loss will become more and more difficult.

If you are on a healthy, well balanced diet that allows you to eat enough, the best way to speed up the weight loss is by doing a little moderate exercise. Working a little with weights is also a good idea as it builds muscle and muscle uses more calories than fat. In this way you can speed up your metabolism and use more calories even when you are sleeping!

Your question again “how to lose weight – calories, how do I reduce them?” The answer is by following a healthy balanced diet you do not have to count them. To speed up the weight loss do some moderate exercise. In this way the pounds and the fat will melt away in a healthy way.

Measuring Progress When Working Out for the First Time

Most weight loss programs involve working out. The only tried and true form of long-term, healthy weight loss is a combination of diet and exercise. If you want to lose weight, you’ve got to burn more than you consume, and any weight loss programs that do not include this component are not worth your time.

However, for those of us who aren’t accustomed to a daily or weekly workout regimen, it may be hard to know how to note your progress. How does one measure progress when starting a workout routine for the first time?
The obvious answer is the effect on your body. If you look at yourself in the mirror and are happier with what you see than you were a month ago, something you are doing is working. If you’re interested in losing weight, you should be doing a combination of cardiovascular, aerobic exercises like elliptical training or biking, along with a smaller percentage of weight training, such as dumbbell curls, bench presses or squats. You might not see results in the first week, but after a month or so, you should notice more definition in your muscles and less “jiggle” just about everywhere.

Still, this is not the most scientific way to measure progress. There are however, methods you can use to get a more accurate recording of how you’re doing. You can purchase fat calipers at many sporting goods stores or online. You can use these fat calipers to predict what your body fat density is, and record your results each week. You can also calculate your BMI (Body Mass Index) weekly.

Finally, a good measure of whether you are making progress in your working out is a rise in your capabilities. You should be dutifully recording the exact nature of your workout: how many minutes you use the elliptical, what incline you have the stair climber set on, how much tension you have in the stationary bike. Every couple of weeks, or whenever you feel ready, you should consider upping the exertion level. The more you can do, the more progress you’re making. If at the end of six months you can see steady progress in how much you’re taking on in your workout, combined with the improved way your body looks, you’ll know you’re doing the right thing and are on your way to the weight loss and body type you are hoping to achieve!

Knowing Your Diet Limits And Keeping It Fresh

When you go to your favorite south-of-the-border restaurant, do you order the steamed fish and vegetable special? Do you get a baked potato on the side and top it with a lowfat yogurt-sour cream blend? No? I’m not surprised because, frankly, I don’t know anyone who does. Everyone I know who enjoys Mexican food goes for the gusto–the cheese nachos, the beef tacos, the chile rellenos, not to mention the margaritas and the lime-infused brew. How do you handle that on 1,000 calories a day? Very carefully, specialists would advise, or not all until you feel confident that you can order sensibly.

Some people can eat just one. No matter what they’re offered, whether it’s a tortilla chip or a chocolate chip cookie, they take a small sample and never go back for more. However, most people aren’t like that. If you’re watching your weight, you may need to avoid most convenience food stores, your supermarket’s snack section, and all Mexican restaurants.

When you know you won’t be satisfied with small portions of your favorite foods, stay away from them until you’re feeling stronger. Never say “never” but definitely figure out how to say “not right now.”

Even if you’re an independent operator and you’re used to making decisions on your own, don’t be afraid to admit if you can’t handle this one alone. You can find a diet buddy or an exercise buddy, join a gym, join a weight-loss program, or seek professional counseling.

Keeping Your Diet Fresh

Initially, you have to make all sorts of changes in your diet and perhaps other areas of your life. Then what? In time, your new low-cal lifestyle will get old and you’ll have to reevaluate your plan to keep it from getting stale.

Boredom is a common trigger for overeating. Sometimes, feelings of boredom are actually a habit of your mind. You’re in the habit of telling yourself that you’re bored, so you feel bored on a regular basis. If that’s the case, you have to make a huge effort to push past those thoughts as soon as they enter your mind and find something interesting to do.

If you spend too many nights sitting around eating and can’t think of anything else to do, sign up for an evening cooking class (preferably a healthy cooking or low-cal cooking class). With a class, you can still at but you’ll be spending most of your time learning about food and preparing food in a social setting. You may even discover something new that can help keep your diet interesting.

Adjusting Your Food Plan Throughout The Seasons

Just as you need a change of wardrobe when summer gives in to early fall, you may need to change your food plan when one season fades into another. Food availability changes with the seasons and so might your physical needs. You may be more active in spring and summer than in winter, and you may cook more in the winter than in the summer or crave heartier foods. You may routinely take your vacations midsummer and late fall, and these vacations may be opportunities to enjoy new and different foods. These seasonal, and temporary, lifestyle changes can affect the way you eat.

For many people, a change in seasons also means a change in mood. If you suffer from winter blues, your diet may suffer, too. The best way to prepare for any seasonal changes in your lifestyle that affect your diet is to look ahead and have a plan in place.

Remember, too, that some things don’t change with the seasons. You need to drink as much water in the winter as you do in the summer, and your body needs good nutrition and a good physical workout all year round.

Your diet personality is probably a lot like your overall personality with respect to how easily you make commitments and motivate yourself to approach difficult tasks. If you answer yes to any of the following questions, you may be standing in your own way of getting to a healthier weight:

-Are you a grazer who nibbles all day long, or do you normally sit down to three full meals and a formal snack or two?
-Do you want someone to tell you what and when to eat in a prescribed plan, or would you rather have a flexible diet that allows you to make on the spot food decisions?

Consider these questions before you make any decisions about the diet you choose to try. Whatever diet it is make sure that you choose a diet that doesn’t restrict what you are allowed to eat. A solid, healthy, nutritious diet focuses on a variety of foods with a limit on the amount of calories that you consume in a given period of time.

When you’re clear about which aspects of your life actually need to be changed, you can begin taking real steps to enact those changes.

The best place to start is with a commitment to yourself. Promise yourself that you’re never going to give up on yourself. Acknowledge now that cutting back on the amount of food you’re used to eating won’t be easy. At the same time, keep telling yourself you can do it. Be your own cheerleader. Promise yourself that you won’t kick yourself when you fall of f the food wagon. Successful dieters don’t scold themselves or give up. They give themselves a pep talk and jump right back on.

Make small changes, one at a time, at your own pace, and allow yourself to get used to one change before moving on the next. For example, your first change may be to switch from regular salad dressings to low calorie dressings. Or, you may decide to steam vegetables instead of stir frying them to save calories from added fat. If both of those changes appeal to you, make one change today and the other tomorrow.

When a person takes real-life steps to make permanent lifestyle changes, scientists call it behavior modification. The following examples of eating behavior modification techniques can help you start your low-cal lifestyle:

-Eat before you go shopping. When you’re hungry, you’re more likely to make impulse purchases of foods you don’t really want to eat.
-Make a shopping list when you go to the grocery store and stick to the list when you get there. Don’t allow yourself to buy “indulgence” foods like snacks and junk food that aren’t on the list.
-Don’t buy “indulgence” foods or any calorie-laden foods. These foods can contribute to overeating when you’re first starting a new diet.
-Keep healthier foods on hand and ready to eat in your refrigerator and cupboards. Doing so gives you options other than junk food when you’re looking for an easy snack or a quick meal.
-Prepare strict single portions so you aren’t tempted to overeat (and consume more calories) if you’re cooking for yourself only, and not following a recipe.
-Use smaller plates. Low-calorie meals tend to look lost on larger plates and may make you feel deprived.
-Always sit down when you eat, even if you’re just having a quick snack, so that you pay attention to how much you eat. You can easily forget about the calories you consume when you eat on the run.
-Leave the table when you’re finished eating what’s on your plate. Doing so reduces the temptation to go back for more food.
-Don’t skip meals. If you do, you may overeat at your next meal or snack too much in between.

The Causes Of Rectal Prolapse

Rectum is usually referred to the lowest 12 to 15 centimeters of the large intestine of the human body and animals. The term rectum refers to the lowest 12-15 centimeters of the large intestine. The location of the rectum is just above the anal canal. In normal cases, the rectum is very securely attached to the pelvis with the help of the ligaments and muscles. These are the attachments which hold the rectum firmly in place.

These muscles and ligaments may weaken due to various factors which include age, long chronic constipation, childbirth etc. due to which the attachment of the rectum to the body weakens. As a result of this weakness, rectum prolapse occurs (which actually means that the rectum has slipped out of place) There may be occasions when the large hemorrhoids, which are actually large swollen veins inside the rectum, may cause the rectum to slip out or prolapse.

In the first stages of the prolapse, the rectum has only poor attachment with the body and stays within. This stage of rectal prolapse is called mucosal prolapse, or partial prolapse, meaning that only the inner lining of the rectum (rectal mucosa) protrudes from the anus. As the connective tissues within the rectal mucosa become loose, it stretches as a result of which the tissue protrudes out through the anus. However when hemorrhoids are present for a long time, the condition generally do not progress to complete prolapse. Therefore, it is very important to determine whether the problem is caused by hemorrhoids or it is a case of rectal prolapse only.

It is well known that though hemorrhoids are common they are always not the real cause of rectal prolapse. After some time the muscles and ligaments become too weak to hold the rectum at place. Due to this reason a large portion of the rectum protrudes out of the body through the anus. This is known as the complete prolapse or full thickness rectal prolapses and is the most commonly found stage of the condition. At first the rectum may protrude and retract in accordance to the person’s activities and movements but gradually as the condition remains untreated the rectum may protrude more frequently or may even remain protruded permanently.

There is another form of prolapsed rectum which is known as the internal intussusceptions. Its conditions are alike and similar to that of the mucosal prolapse or complete rectal prolapse, but in this case the rectum do not protrude out from the body or enters the anal canal at all.

Prolapse of the rectum is uncommon and mostly affects the elderly people and is found rarely among children. Those children who may become affected are mostly below 3 years of age. The incidence of rectal prolapse amongst the male is less than that of the female, who constitute about 80 to 90% of the over all patients of rectal prolapse.

Some of the rectal prolapse which is caused by constipation or straining can be corrected by changing our habits but mostly these are not enough to correct the condition and may require surgery. As a rule, prolapsed rectum may further worsen if it is not corrected immediately through surgery.

Most cases of rectal prolapse require immediate medical attention and care. There have been cases when the treatment of the underlying cause of a prolapsed rectum solved the problem, but these relates mostly to infants and children. In older adults surgery is always necessary to treat a prolapsed rectum.

So how do we do it, the eating out diet? We have had the revelation that has inspired a change of mind about the way we eat. The research did its convicting work and the change is irrevocable. We have committed to ‘do or die’ in the moment of our epiphany. Yet here we are . It is Friday evening and we are in the presence of friends having a great time having been invited out to that restaurant. What do we do ? This is the eating out diet. Pizza was not in the plan. Yes, compromise is the answer.

All great individuals have learned the art of compromise. It is a survival skill in this world or ours, and if we are to survive we must implement our artistic gifting to graciously slide us through. We could simply never give up eating out. The cost is too great.

So there it is. Get the picture ? Any idea what is the missing part of the puzzle? Who really is in charge of our ‘ eating out diet’? Maybe we didn’t realize how hard it would be. This case scenario does happen to other people , but never us. Fact is, it happens all the time to one degree or another. Truth be known, we were rather ill prepared for the battle.

The answer ? Victory has to be won before the fight. How can that be, you may ask? Quite simply by laying ahold of the tools and becoming familiar with what works way before the event and aligning ourselves with the ‘hands on’ solution.

If we are to be ever so stealthily armed in the battle of the bulge, we need to be made aware of such tools and then the eating out diet will become our forte or simply, a piece of cake.

How to Cure Constipation and Hemorrhoids

Your diet must contain fiber in each meal, since fiber stimulate the bowel to work better and empty itself in due time. Food sources containing fiber are full corn cereals, full corn bread, vegetables and fruit.

Your diet must contain the right amount of fat. Too little fat makes the stool hard, too much can irritate the digestion. Vary between these natural fat sources: Fat fish, almonds, olive oil, rape oil, canola oil and flax oil. The fat type in these oils alleviates inflammations in the digestive system. In addition you should consume some, but not too much of these fat sources: Nuts, sunflower seeds, avocados, eggs, spawn, sunflower oil, corn oil and soy oil.

Drink enough water, since water makes the stool softer.

Eat regular meals each day. Do not overfill your stomach at each meal. It can be better to eat four or five smaller meals that three larger.

Go to the toilet every time you feel the urge to pass stool. Relax at the toilet and let it all get the time to pass out. Try to avoid straining to pass the stool out. To ease the passing of stool you can smear the anal opening with vaseline or with special ointments made for this purpose.

Two tablespoons of linen seeds each day for some time can loosen the stomach content and help to alleviate constipation and hemorrhoids. Let the seeds lie in water one hour before swallowing both the seeds and the water with the dissolved mucus from the seeds.

By hard constipation, it can be useful to take a small or middle sized enema a couple of times each week. You can buy enema ampoules that are easy to use for this purpose. The content of these ampoules not only loosens the stool, but also stimulates the bowel to empty itself. A very great enema can however increase the intestinal pressure and worsen the hemorrhoids.

Two or three cups of coffee or tea each day stimulate the intestines to work better and counteract constipation. Too much, however, can irritate the stomach, can cause bloating, and thereby worsen constipation and hemorrhoids.

Use strong spices in your food like cayenne, chili or ginger. These spices stimulate the tissue in the digestive system to heal. Too much of these spices can however irritate your digestive system.

Regular exercise will stimulate your intestines to work more effectively and this way counteract constipation and hemorrhoids.

Take also some time each day to stress down and relax. A nervous system in a stressed mood sends fewer signals to the digestive system to work, and the digestive system slows down its function. Meditation is a very effective way of stressing down that also stimulates the digestive organs to work better.

You can alleviate acute hemorrhoids by applying topical ointments in the anal region. These products will do several simultaneous actions: Lubricating the anus to pass stool more easily, alleviating inflammation, killing bacteria infecting the hemorrhoids, stimulating tissue healing and alleviating pain.

You can also use oral drugs to treat hemorrhoids. The actions of these are: Stool softening, stimulation of intestinal movements, stimulation of tissue regeneration, anti-inflammatory action and pain relief.

Some of these oral or topical products are pharmacological drugs. Others are based on natural plant fibers, herbs, natural oils, vitamins and minerals. Some of them combine natural agents with synthetic chemicals.
