How to Treat Chapped Lips?
Lips get dry and chapped every winter. Dry lips not only look bad but at times they can be painful as well. Hence it is crucial to treat chapped lips. It is not necessary to go for a cosmetic procedure to treat chapped lips when some simple home remedies can solve the problem. Cosmetic procedure can give you immediate result but it is expensive. If you have some patience you can try the following home treatments for chapped lips.
- Take a small bowl and fill it with warm water. Dip a soft and clean wash cloth in the warm water. Hold the wet cloth against your lips for sometime until the cloth cools. Repeat this process three times. This is a very effective lip treatment that you can try on a regular basis and you will soon notice the difference.
- Take a soft wet piece of cloth and rub it across your lips horizontally back and forth. This will remove the dead skin cells making your lips smooth. The same procedure can be followed using a soft baby toothbrush. Run your finger across your lips and you will feel that your lips have become smoother.
- Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the lips and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then apply a good quality lip balm on your lips. Use a lip balm with bees wax or cocoa butter. Make sure the balm you use is SPF 15 or above. Apply the lip balm whenever you go out in the sun.
- Only external care is not enough to get rid of chapped lips. You need to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to keep your body hydrated. It will prevent your lips from drying out.
