Tumescentliposuction: Celebrity Makeover: Brigitte Nielsen

A History of Tumescent Liposuction If you are looking to find the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery today, look no further than liposuction. Liposuction is also know as lipoplasty, liposculpture or lipectomy. The first liposuction procedures were performed in the early to mid 1970A´s and since then there have been many advancements in liposuction. One of the greatest advancements in technique and method is now known as the tumescent liposuction technique. In the following article, we will review a brief history of the tumescent liposuction technique. There was a time in the past where liposuction would require a patient to have a pre-operative blood transfusion because there was such a significant amount of blood lost with each operation. Thankfully, the tumescent liposuction technique came about in the mid to late 1980’s and there was no longer the need for these pre-operative blood transfusions for liposuction patients.

Tumescent liposuction was not refined and widely used until the 1990’s, but since it has been an option for liposuction patients, liposuction has become a safer procedure and there is less for people to worry about. Tumescent liposuction was also made to reduce the pain, swelling and bruising that is associated with the traditional liposuction procedure. Of course, the tumescent liposuction procedure is not a surgical procedure that is completely risk free, as there is no surgical procedure that is, but when it comes to a lowered risk rate, tumescent liposuction has all the other methods beat hands down. Since the 1990’s, any patient that has been a good candidate for traditional liposuction has been an even better candidate for tumescent liposuction. Tumescent liposuction can be used on nearly any area of the body, but it is most often used on the areas of the body that need a more detailed type of sculpturing done to them during the procedure.

The face, neck, ankles and arms have always been popular places for tumescent liposuction. The calves are also a popular spot for this surgical procedure for both men and women. Patients who have large amounts of fat that need to be dealt with are also excellent candidates for tumescent liposuction. If you are seriously considering liposuction, you will want to talk to a qualified physician to make sure that tumescent liposcution is right for you.
