This is a process where some pins are inserted into certain body parts especially around the head, neck and back. There are various points where these pins apply pressure to and eventually so helps in relieving from pain caused by migraines. Treatment of migraine may vary from one individual to another. There are people who would be required to administer drugs in order to relieve pain while others would use conventional methods or non-medication methods to relieve the migraine headaches.

Therapies are highly recommended form of treatment for migraines as they do not have any side effects and are more reliable in treating migraines. These include therapies such as using ice, relaxation and biofeedback techniques all these could be helpful in stopping a migraine attack once it has started. Relaxing consists of activities which require less energy such as sitting and watching television, walking hurriedly or even taking a shower. If one feels tensed due to work or due to other social activities, taking 5 minutes off the normal work schedule or taking a leisure walk reduces the chances of having a migraine.

Some people also relax in sporting activities such as swimming, golfing which do not require so much energy input. Sleep is the best medicine for treating migraine that is, if it does not have other complications with it. It helps one to relax and make the body be at ease with itself. Ensuring that you get normal adequate sleep can also reduce the chances of migraines recurring. All factors considered leading a healthy life style with good nutrition, taking enough amounts of water and getting sufficient sleep and exercise normally reduces chances of having migraine headaches.

Another form of migraine therapy has been proven useful by doctors that are for physicians and their patients to keep a headache and migraine diary. This is exceptionally useful to track and detect triggers, the effectiveness of medication and any other patterns that may cause migraine headaches. The patient keeping this diary would find it helpful in reviewing it with his physician and also help the patient in detecting when the next attach would strike and be forewarned and if possible take the necessary precautions to prevent the pain. The diary would also indicate the activities prior to the attacks and therefore knowing which triggers to avoid in future. A patient may realize after taking certain foods or drinks that it might trigger migraine. This is due to the chemicals that are found in these foods like those that are high in tyramine or those that have sulphites or nitrates. Cigarettes also have certain chemical compounds that once inhaled may cause constriction of the arteries and eventually causing migraine headaches.
