Children are also among the people today suffering from depression. Though causes of depression are still a mystery, most people attribute their rise to extremely traumatic incidents that happened in person’s life. Memories of hard times keep recurring in their mind, thus overpowering them with negative emotion such as sadness, grief, and guilt.

Children are not exception to depression, they also face situation in their life where they are unable to handle complex scenarios. Especially when they see parent divorce, they get distracted emotionally and feel very alone and lonely. It is during such phase they risk getting depression.

This leads them to get completely devastated much similar to how older men and women experience. Parents get remarried and in process new step parent replaces them. In such cases, it is difficult for children to accept them as their own father or mother.

Kindly note that there are many types of depression among which are more sever ones Such as Major Depression, Manic depression symptoms, Dysthymia, and Psychotic Depression depending on symptoms found in suferer. Each one of these depressive disorder can create lot of pain and trouble in the suferer’s life causing him/her to even comtemplating ending their life.

Children cannot think of accepting new parent as their own. They cannot even live without their original parent for even single, let alone accepting new parents. Often, during divorce, children are neglected which is why they are rising cases of kids committed suicide or run away from home.

They take such extreme steps, as they cannot remove depression from their life. Nor is any parent paying any attention to their suffering. This makes them more dishearten and tend to make them feel they are un required or unworthy.

Parent has duty to take proper care of their children. They therefore need to screen if their child is facing any depression in their life. This will help you take corrective measure early, there by removing any chances of depression growing further.

Children usually get depression, when they are unable to come out and speak how they feel about the new changes occurring in their life. They may appear normal from outside, but are extremely disgusted and disturb from inside. They are not ready to accept and over time even become very violent. New parents need to shower their love, care and affection towards children, to prevent them from falling prey to depression.

Divorce parent has responsibility to discuss and explain to their children about why they are getting divorce. By keeping your children understand reason for parting way; you prevent them from falling ill to depression. As depression usually arises from stress or fear. When children fear about their safety in hand of new mother or father, they surely will experience turbulent emotional life.

By telling them your reason to part ways, you are letting kids know that it is alright to accept new parents. Although, children will never feel this way completely. But this talk with children can bring stability in their life.

Besides, new parent also need to reassure kids that they are not replacing their former parents. This can be done by communicating with them on an Open and honest level. I agree it is not possible to replace a person who has died or divorced parent who has moved away. Children still have their picture on their mind, which by all means is not going to change swiftly and they will take their time accepting new parents.

Step parent can improve their rating with children by spending more time with them. They can also take part or take them out on picnic. So that children can get to know them well and can begin to accept them as their parents. Note, it is important for children to understand and build trust about their new parent as there will always be differences.

Older people also face problem when need arises they relocate themselves to new location, or change of responsibilities at job etc. Older men/women are reluctant to change their old place for fear of losing their status, friend and having to go to new place and start over thing from scratch. There is also fear they may not be accept or be as successful. So if men and women can have problem just adjust to new conditions, then just imagine what goes through those tiny innocent children you lose their parent to break up or due to death.
