No one really wants to keep their love handles. You can try to make them sound cutesy by calling them “muffin tops,” but it’s still no fun to have them. Fortunately, if you are ready to shed these extra pounds, you are perfectly capable of doing so. Your love handles can be a thing of the past if you are ready to make some healthy changes in your life. Just imagine a future where your pants fit snugly without anything bulging out! So let’s take a look at some of the most effective and healthiest ways to dissolve those love handles.
Don’t think of your love handles as something separate from the rest of your body. A better goal is to work on your body as a whole. The way you eat and exercise should be designed to help your whole body. It won’t do you any good to only focus on one single part of your body. For example, if you only work your midsection, all you’ll do is create more muscle there, and this could actually make your love handles stand out more. Your goal, after all, is to appear and feel healthier, and you get this by working on your body as a whole. You end up a winner all around!

In most cases, the process of losing weight is nothing more than mathematics. You will lose weight if you are consuming fewer calories than you are burning up. Your fat cells store calories for reserves of energy, and as you increase your activity, the body begins to eat these up. This occurs naturally for some. For active people who also have a fast metabolism, this isn’t a problem. For less active people, however, or those with slower metabolisms, this isn’t so easy. With the lifestyle many people live today, there can be more time for eating than for physical activity. If you are having trouble figuring out how to arrange your life so you eat fewer calories, discuss it with your doctor.

It’s a good idea to make your diet consist, as much as possible, of “low energy density” foods. These are the kind of foods that do your body the most good. If you are looking for examples of low energy density foods, think of fruits and vegetables. Such foods are made up almost entirely of substances that are helpful for your body. You want to stay away from those foods that are high energy density, as these offer the body few benefits. Many of these foods can be considered junk foods, and are usually high in sugar, unhealthy carbohydrates and/or unhealthy fats. Your body has no real use for such foods, so they end up getting stored in places like your love handles!

You can do many things that will help you eliminate your love handles. Working out regularly is one way to tackle the problem. Cutting back drastically on calories can also help. You may get even better results if you do both. However you want to proceed, you should first discuss it with your doctor. A doctor can tell you if your weight loss program is being conducted in the right way. Don’t ever believe that you have to live with your love handles forever. Getting rid of them is usually a matter of committing yourself to making some positive changes in the way you live.
