Diabetes is majorly classified into two types Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. The diabetes seen in women during pregnancy is Gestational diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is more common among young adults and teenagers so it known by the name Juvenile diabetes. Insulin is must medication for type 1 diabetic people.

Type 1 diabetes occurs due to autoimmune system of the human body which affects the pancreas cells. Pancreas have four types of cells which are collectively known as Islet of langerhans. Among which beta cells are responsible for secretion of insulin.

Type 2 diabetes is also known as adult onset diabetes as it more common among people of above 40 years of age.

The specific symptoms related to type 1 diabetes are

  • It is mainly seen in childhood associated with an illness
  • Here extra stress leads to ketoacidosis
  • Nausea and vomiting are main symptoms of ketoacidosis.
  • In ignored cases ketoacidosis leads to coma and death.

The specific symptoms related to type 2 diabetes are

  • The symptoms develop here slowly and most of the times a person is unknown about suffering with diabetes
  • Use of steroids and increase stress levels increases type 2 diabetes in an individual.
  • In ignored cases its complications are blindness, kidney failure, heart disease and nerve damage.

The Common Symptoms for Diabetes Type 1 and Type 2 Are:

Fatigue : Due to glucose toxicity the glucose is not converted to energy and a person feels tired and always feels happy to sleep.

Weight loss : Diabetic people are unable to process many of the needed calories required for the body the weight loss in common symptom.

Increased Urination: It is due to kidneys spilling the excess sugar present in the blood. Hence there is an increase in amount of urine in made. This leads to dehydration in the body as sugar takes away large amount of water content along with it.

Increased thirst: This is due excessive urination. To overcome the loss of water the body tries to compensate by thirst.

Excessive Eating: This is common in type 2 diabetes people as the body makes excessive insulin due to insulin resistance. The function of insulin is to stimulate hunger.

Poor wound healing: High glucose level is harmful to the body in many ways. It affects the immune system of the body. Immune system of the body defends against the bacteria and helps in cleaning up dead tissues and cells. It affects wound healing in the body

Nerve damage: A person who is diabetic gets easily irritated, agitated or confused most of the times. One of the main reasons for it is high glucose levels in the body.

Infections : Skin infections, yeast infections and frequent urinary tract infections occurs these are due to high blood sugar level in the body, which prevents immune system of the body to act effectively.
