10 Top Healthy Foods To Keep You Fit

Healthy eating and physical fitness go together, but there are no magic foods that cause you to be one hundred percent healthy by just eating the one food. No, you need a variety of foods from each of these food groups each day. It’s also important to watch the portion size so as not to overeat. Make your mealtimes pleasant and relaxed occasions and your healthy foods will work effectively with your healthy emotions to give you a healthy body.

Berries

You may like all types of berries or just one or two favorites, but you can never go wrong by adding a few fresh berries as a quick energy snack or frozen berries made into a luscious smoothie in place of calorie laden desserts. Berries are high in vitamin C across the board, but some are high in other nutrients as well. Choose ripe blueberries for vitamin C and heaps of anti-oxidants for the health of your circulatory system. Gogi berries are less well-known but are wonderfully rich in many of the nutrients your body needs to be nutritionally and physically fit.

Citrus

The foods of the citrus family are widely recognized as a valuable source of vitamin C. Choose fully ripe citrus fruits for the best nutritional value and choose citrus as near to the tree as possible. Tree ripened fruits picked at the peak of perfection and consumed with hours of picking give you the top nutritional rating. Try grapefruit for breakfast. Add a dash of fresh squeezed lime to your salad as a dressing and enjoy slices of orange with coconut in a light honey dressing for dessert.

Vegetables

The variety of vegetables is amazing. For people who are vegetarian or vegan, choosing vegetables to be part of a nutritionally sound diet is a way of life. Your vegetable group provides many of the minerals required in a good diet. For example, you may realize that potassium is necessary for healthy nutrition. Many people claim the benefits of potassium found in a single banana. But did you know, you can also get adequate potassium in your diet by eating a stalk of broccoli? Try a salad of fresh young spinach topped with pine nuts and stirred with lightly cooked penne’. Feta cheese and a light vinaigrette dressing to create the perfect light luncheon meal.

Whole Grains

Like many other of the best foods, choosing only one type of whole grain for your meals doesn’t provide all the variety you need to be nutritionally sound. Often, mixing two or more whole grains together will give you complete proteins. For example, brown rice and wheat kernels with a spicy seasoning are a popular dish in many countries.

Salmon

Salmon is lean fish and nutritionally one of the best fish choices. It is rich in Omega-3 oils that are noted as helping improve the functioning of the brain. Salmon baked whole with just lemon or lime as a seasoning makes a fantastic main dish or a hearty luncheon featured menu item. Salmon is also commonly found in chilled seafood dishes.

Legumes

A legume is the name for a variety of fruits with a single dry seed. Legumes are sometimes called pods. Examples of edible legumes are soybeans, peas, dried beans and peanuts, among others. Legumes are rich in iron and high in fiber, making them excellent nutritional choices. Peanuts are a type of legume that have been used to make hundreds of different products some edible and others with various types of helpful uses.

Nuts and seeds

Nature has packed a lot of goodness into small packages. Most everyone has heard of walnuts and pecans which are very good nutritional products, but did you realize that flax seeds are brain food–containing critical non-meat sources of the Omega-3 oil.

Lean proteins

The keyword here is lean. Americans eat far too much protein compared to the rest of the world. Cut down of portion sizes–three ounces will provide all the needed protein needed for your day. Also, trim all visible fat from your protein source. Alternatively, use non meat substitutes such as the complete proteins found in vegetable dishes like beans and brown rice.

Tea

Depending on the type of tea you prefer, you can get an energy boost from a cup of green tea, or the calming effect of chamomile tea. Get going with mint teas or start your day with Earl Grey Breakfast Tea. Herbal teas are soothing, tasty and good for you. Non herbal teas will help you to stay alert when you need help to function.

Olive oil

Olive oil is probably the healthiest substance you can use to keep fat in your diet. You can use it on your salad, mix it with a little vinegar to create your own, or fry other foods in the hot oil. Just make sure that the temperature is not too hot so that the oil is broken down.

Fat Burning Foods Plan

Fat Burning Food Program; There are certain foods which actually burn more fat than the Calorie content of the food itself. These fat burning foods are Natural Plant Foods. There are many healthy and delicious foods which can be considered negative calorie foods and/or fat-burning foods. Whether you want to try eating these foods only in order to lose weight quickly (ala the Negative Calorie Diet) is up to you. But, no matter what, you should try to incorporate at least a few of them into your everyday diet. They all offer one or more significant health, fitness, and/or fat loss benefits!
Build a Diet You Enjoy Otherwise You are not going to stick with it
I believe that a lot of our attention needs to shift away from pointless debates (for example, low carb vs. high carb is getting really old… so like… get over it everyone, its a calorie deficit that makes you lose weight, not the amount of carbs).
Instead, our focus should shift towards these questions:
* How can we build an eating program that we can enjoy while still getting us leaner and healthier?
* How can we build an eating program that helps us control calories?
* How can we build an eating program that improves compliance?

Here’s one good answer: Eat a wide variety of high nutrient density, low calorie density foods that you enjoy which still fit with in healthy, fat-burning, muscle-building guidelines! In my upcoming posts I will write about the lists of foods you can choose to achieve these three outcomes. This eating program is not difficult to stick with at all, by the way.I enjoy eating like this and it feels almost weird not to eat like this after doing it for so long. Remember, habits work in both directions, and as motivational speaker has said,
“Bad habits are easy to form and hard to live with and good habits are hard to form but easy to live with.”

You should avoid alcoholic drinks, smoking cigarettes, and other vices that would do harm to your health. Staying positive and getting a good night’s rest does wonders for you physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Reality of Aging Women

Women are fragile and they are prone to illness especially as they age. There are a few ways to slow the aging process. You need to always remember that you do not have to feel sad about getting old. How you feel deep inside is what should matter to you. No matter how many lines are showing up on your face, what matters is that they are happy smiles. Women are more prone to suffer the effects of the fluctuation of their hormones. Most women encounter what is known as the menopausal period. For the teenagers, there is the influence of peer pressure as well.

Women who are in their forties are usually more prone to have illnesses due to their hormonal changes than the younger women. Women should look into their health as a priority. Eating healthy food would make you look and feel younger. Not only will you look good when you are on a healthy diet, but physically you would be in a great shape and feel great.

In order to stay healthy, you should always remember that you have to feel good with yourself inside and out.

How to Use Anti Aging Beauty Foods to Keep Young

The reason why many of us age so quickly as far as looks go is that we don’t take proper care of ourselves. If we are not really taking care of ourselves by eating right, exercising, not smoking and over drinking then anti aging beauty products are not going to work to well for us. Anti aging beauty products can be a great compliment to staying young if we learn how to take care of the body that the Lord has given us. So, in this article I will show the foods you can start to consume as anti-aging foods and use this method with you’re over the counter anti-aging products.

* The first thing to recognize about anti-aging beauty methods is what to know what to cut out of your diet. This would include junk foods of all types like fried foods, cookies, chips, processed foods and foods filled with refined sugar. These are all considered dirty foods, so we need to keep the dirty foods out of our daily diet and consume clean foods. We will discuss clean foods later, but these are the foods that work as great anti-aging beauty methods.
* The next anti aging beauty tool seems like a no brainer, but it is still often overlooked. When we drink enough water it keeps our skin from drying up it gives our skin luster. Without enough water our skin is no longer full of luster and that makes it much easier for the wrinkles to begin to form. We have to remember anyway that our skin is the largest organ and without enough water nothing functions as it should.
* The anti aging beauties foods that you need to consume on a daily are fruits and vegetables. This provides the body with all the natural vitamins and minerals that skin is thirsty for. Let me tell you the skin will readily take in those natural vitamins from fruits and vegetables quick than it will from a tablet! If you are not sure how to incorporate enough fruits and veggies into your diet on a daily basis I can help you. In the morning until lunch time like every two hours eat fresh fruits and veggies.

Some people see immediate results, and there seems to be great potential with this facial over time. For best results many suggest organic, free-range or “pastured” eggs, olive oil sold in dark bottles, and raw, wild honey has more healing powers similar to “ancient” honey than dead commercial honey. Here are the anti aging natural facial directions:

* Beat the egg yolk.
* Add one teaspoon of olive oil and mix together well.
* Heat a metal spoon (holding it under hot water works well). You want something warm to help the honey melt and mix in, but not something so hot you end up with a fried egg anti aging facial!
* Use the hot spoon to mix in the teaspoon of honey. Your anti aging natural facial is complete.
* Apply your anti aging natural facial to clean skin for 20 minutes, then rinse.

Getting Started Eating Organic Foods

Everything, including eating healthier, starts with a first step. Very few people jump into new things with both feet, which is good because transitioning slowly with anything, including a new way of eating, ensures a much higher success rate in the long run. Before your next weekly shopping trip, do a full inventory of your refrigerator and your pantry.

Go to the grocery store and peruse the produce section to see if yours carries organic produce and then explore your grocery store to see if it has a natural or organic foods section; many do thanks to high demand for them. Once you’ve done these first two steps, you can move on to the next steps to get yourself started eating organic foods. If you already eat fruits and vegetables, make buying organic versions of basic produce like apples, oranges and celery your first step in the transition to eating organic foods. While they are pricier, they are free of pesticides and herbicides and grow in naturally nutrient-rich soil so they will taste better and they are better for you.

Usually introducing organic foods to your body and your pocket book is a good place to start; if you see something you’ve never had before in organic form, consider expanding your horizons and buy it. By taking one step at a time and a trial-and-error approach, you can have fun with this new diet idea which will aid in making the transition a seamless one. It’s a myth that when you “go organic” you have to give up the foods you love.

Most people aren’t willing to sacrifice the foods they love for the sake of their health, which is perfectly understandable. If you are forced to eat food that doesn’t appeal to you, the chances of success are small. Instead, look for organic counterparts of the foods you love. Examples of foods that have an organic counterpart include corn chips, popcorn, chocolate and bread. If you’re like most people today, you lead a busy life that has you moving nearly constantly which means you don’t have time to prepare a lot of food or put extensive effort into your food. There’s good news for you in the world of organic foods. Invest in a juicer and a dehydrator and they will become your new best friends in the kitchen. Many people who eat organic “juice” their fruit for wonderful, nutrient-rich juices that you can take with you.

Dehydrators are an organic foodie’s best friend, second only to juicers. Cut up fruits and dry them. You now have nutrient-rich, super convenient, healthy organic foods to take with for on-the-go snacks or afternoon pick-me-ups plus they help you avoid the temptation of fast foods and, because organic foods are rich in water, you’ll be more awake and less thirsty.

These are just three suggestions to get you started on the road to eating organic and changing your life for the better. Remember to go slowly, expect to backslide as this is normal, allow yourself to make mistakes, experiment with new foods and recipes and buy what you like. Customize your new diet to fit your lifestyle to increase the chance that you will succeed long term.

Healthy Heart Foods

Which foods can you eat which will improve your chances of cardiovascular wellbeing and a longer life? Certain whole foods are known for their ability to support heart health. Read on to find out which heart healthy foods you need to keep in your refrigerator and eat more regularly.

There are many foods that we can make a regular part of our healthy diet that can help protect our heart. A healthy diet is one that is low in saturated and trans fats, refined sugars and sodium and adding a bowl of oat bran to a diet that is high in fat and sodium is not going to solve the problem. A healthy diet is one that is an ongoing diet of heart healthy foods and nutrients.

Everyday, thousands of people are put on prescription medication for high blood pressure, high cholesterol or atherosclerosis because heart disease is the leading cause of death in Americans over the age of 45. The process seems to begin with an injury in an artery’s lining caused by high blood pressure, smoking or an amino acid called homocystein which is generated by the breakdown of protein in the body.

You should be eating foods such as red grapes, cranberries, tomatoes, and onions. These foods contain very powerful antioxidants and flavonoids and carotenoids. These nutrients decrease inflammation and take damaging radicals from your body through urination.

Do these habits support you to build and nurture your important relationships? Are you using work as an excuse – to avoid being with, and communicating with those important people? Can you establish boundaries for yourself in regard to your work – to ensure ample high-quality relationship time? Set reasonable expectations for what you will accomplish each day. Plan for success.

A large percentage of the US population believes that a healthy diet must be boring and bland. This is certainly not the case because healthy eating food choices include a wide variety of delicious options. These ingredients are used in healthy food recipes to create tasty dishes that are every bit as refined, savory and appealing as those richer, less healthy menu offerings served at 5 star restaurants anywhere in the world.

If there is not enough vitamin C in our system to produce collagen, an unhealthy substitute is used instead – cholesterol! If this continues, cholesterol builds up and the arteries harden (atherosclerosis) constricting blood flow. This can also lead to angina and a possible heart attack or stroke. Furthermore, vitamin C helps detoxify blood and prevents blood from sticking and clotting. Some good juicer recipes food sources include oranges, kiwi fruit, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, apples, broccoli, cucumber and carrots.

Eating for a healthy heart isn’t complicated, and it is not about making radical, short-term changes to your diet. It really is about making a life-style change. Eating for a healthy heart is an important initial step to lowering the threat of developing heart problems. Coronary disease will take more lives than the next seven main causes of death. Discover why eating for a healthy heart, seriously, isn’t as rigid as you thought, however it is essential to a happy healthier life.

Do enjoy fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables in salads, smoothies and drinks like mango lassi. Yield not to the temptation to make cherry pie, cobbler, ice-cream or any dish that will destroy the healthy nutrients like vitamin C in fresh fruit. Do not choose recipes with added sugar and more than 2 tablespoons of saturated fat like cream, sour cream and mayonnaise when trying new dishes. Excess saturated fat is documented to put stress on the working of your heart and circulatory system.

Eat Junk Foods and Still Lose Weight

Do you know that salads can help you lose weight in multiple ways? If you eat salad with every meal, your metabolic rate will increase, which in turn will help you burn fat fast! But there is another way in which salads can help you with weight loss, something you might not be aware of! Eating junk foods alone is not okay, but if you eat salads with junk foods, you will be able to offset any further weight gain!

You maybe are wondering how salads can help you so much, especially when you have tried almost all the available fad diet plans out there and still failed miserably. Well, it all happens because of the transaction between two types of chemicals. Do you know why you became overweight? Yes, the obvious answer is that you became overweight because of eating junk foods.

But why would you gain weight by eating junk foods? You gained weight because the foods you ate such as soft drinks, red meat, sugar, dairy foods, etc., are rich in acids. These acids would have killed you if left ‘as is’ inside your body. To save you from untimely death, your body bound these acids with fat, neutralized them and stored them as fat deposits inside your body!

Now, as a matter of fact, green vegetables such as salads contain a lot of alkaline. Alkaline is the worst enemy of acids. When alkaline enters your body, it will cleanse your body of all the toxins that you have in the form of fat deposits. In this way you will see that you are able to shed all the extra pounds very quickly! The more green and leafy vegetables you eat, the faster you will lose weight!

That is why I told you at the beginning of this article that even if you eat junk foods once in a while, it is important to add a green vegetable to it. Whenever you enter a fast food restaurant, ask the waiter to serve you with some salads, along with the regular food. Since salads contain alkaline, it will neutralize the acids contained in the junk foods, thereby preventing any further weight gain!

Of course, if you are serious about weight loss, you should not make it a regular habit to eat junk foods. Plan your meals in such a way that at least 70-80% of your meal consists of raw vegetables and fruits while the rest can be cooked meal! Planning your meals in this way will enable you to lose weight very quickly! Remember that the faster you lose weight, the quicker you can acquire a sexy body like your favorite celebrity!
