What is a Psychiatric Patient? A Common Sense Guide to Psychiatry – Part Three

Potentially anyone is a psychiatric patient, even YOU, because every aspect of human behavior is labeled by psychiatry as being a mental illness.A study of psychiatry’s diagnostic manual will confirm this for anyone who cares to look.

Examples of nuances of human behavior and the ups and downs of living re-categorized as an “illness” requiring treatment include:
– Seasonal Anxiety Disorder (feeling “blue” at Christmas).
– Dyspraxia (the tendency of children to be clumsy)
– Sexual Addiction (the tendency of some people to be sexually overactive or unethical)
– Depression (feeling down after a loss, redundancy and so on.)

You are mentally ill if a psychiatrist says you are mentally ill. All that is required for you to be labeled mentally ill is for a psychiatrist to give that opinion. He does not have to produce, and cannot produce, any scientifically proven yardstick or clear consistent definition of each so-called mental disorder. He cannot produce and is not required to produce any diagnostic criteria for adjudging that you have a disorder.

Psychiatrists are busy adding new “disorders” to their list as fast as they can dream them up.

Psychiatrists long ago discovered that they could dream up disorders at will without the need for any true science behind them and get away with it because there was in fact no independent body monitoring and scrutinizing their methods and ensuring they measured up to rigorous scientific standards. Psychiatry had been operating thus with impunity and was consequently thoroughly entrenched, for a hundred years before anyone had the wisdom to subject it to scrutiny and found its scientific credentials to be bogus. (I refer you to the history of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights).

Based on his “diagnosis” of your condition, the psychiatrist can then begin “treatment.” Such treatment nowadays usually involves the administering of powerful brain-altering drugs that do irreparable damage to the brain and nervous system and produce a slew of unpleasant side effects. Such treatment earns revenue for the psychiatrist. He cannot make money unless he diagnoses you as having an illness that must be treated.

If you refuse treatment? Well, that’s a disorder too, requiring treatment.

The psychiatrist can always force you to undergo treatment. He has the legal power to commit anyone for as long as he see fit, simply based upon his unsubstantiated diagnosis (opinion) that it is “for our own good.”

Once you have been labeled mentally ill, you surrender your liberties and human rights to the hands of psychiatry. Essentially you’ve had it.

What happens to a psychiatric patient?

When you become a psychiatric patient you are administered one or more of the following:
Drugs to produce a malleable, zombie-like condition
ECT: Electro Convulsive Therapy, to produce a malleable zombie-like condition
Lobotomy: to produce a malleable, zombie-like condition.

The disturbingly bizarre behavior we commonly see in psychiatric patients is almost always caused by the brain-damaging TREATMENT they have received in psychiatric hands and NOT an alleged mental illness.

The Three Keys to Losing Weight

Everyone who has ever watched TV has seen infomercials. These programs that can be as short as thirty seconds, or as long as a half an hour, which tell us the amazing features and benefits of products that we simply must have. A common theme of infomercials are amazing weight loss programs. People come on the programs that were once as large as killer whales, who have lost hundreds of pounds, and show us there mammoth old blue jeans. “This is the program that gave me results,” is a familiar catch phrase from these testimonials. Simple logic would tell us, if it worked for them then it will work for me. Yet, studies have shown that infomercial diets don’t produce results, and surprisingly will actually lead in most cases to increased weight gain. The problem is weight loss takes work, and commitment. No simple twenty minute program alone will give anyone the true results that they want. When trying to make weight loss goals and creating programs for yourself there are three important core principles to consider.

Nutrition – In the fight against weight loss nutrition is the key element to winning the war. A person can exercise like a fanatic, but they won’t see results until they control their diet. When constructing a diet for weight loss you shouldn’t think of it as a diet. A short term change of eating that will end once you reach a desired weight. Diets have a low success rate, because people usually put back on the weight they lost when they go back to their old eating habits. The better solution is to construct a meal schedule that will provide a change in the overall eating habits. Help yourself to make smart meal decisions. Learn how to prepare healthy foods. Find meals that are delicious, filling, and healthy. It will take a little time, but through a change in diet will come the biggest weight loss rewards.

Exercise – While nutrition is important, exercise will speed the weight loss process up considerably. The best way to lose weight is to have your body burning the most calories possible. Through the creation of lean muscle the body is burning large amounts of calories. Even when you are sleeping or just idle your body will still be hard at work crunching calories and creating lean muscle. The best way to create lean muscle is to have a good weight training program. Cardiovascular exercise is important, and will help to strengthen the heart. Yet, a good mixture of cardio exercise and weight training will burn the most calories and give maximum results.

Vitamins and Supplements – Through a healthy eating plan, and increased exercise people will start to see weight loss results. Vitamins and supplements are a way to help boast the effectiveness of you nutritional and workout plans. No matter how good a dietary plan is there will always be some elements missing from it, which your body will require to function correctly. Better Than Psychiatric Drugs, Part Three: The Right Tree.

A person who is “mentally disturbed” will be found to have hidden underlying physical problems that prevent their recovery.

Broken bones, pinched nerves, and suppressed pain — all can affect the person’s mental outlook. Modern advances in medicine and nutrition have revelealed just how big an adverse effect on the mind can be exerted by nutritional and vitamin deficiencies, poor diet, allergies, food additives and chemical toxins in the fatty tissues of the body.

Physical discomforts, deficiences and exhaustion have a detrimental effect on mood. The person is medically ill or injured, not “insane.” He may have a disease but he does not, short of a tumour, have a diseased or malfunctioning brain, nor is he locked into a mental condition by the fickle pre-programming of his genes.

Fix the medical problem, allergy or nutitional deficiency and the person will experience resurgence.

The correct first action on a seriously mentally disturbed person therefore is a full searching clinical examination by a competent medical doctor.The correct second action is find and fix the cause.

There follows below a by no mens exhaustive list of things that can affect quite seriously a person’s mental state and behaviour. Just to give you an idea, let me start with the example of Lyme Disease.

Lyme Disese is the most common tick-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere. It is transmitted to humans by the bite of infected ticks. Early manifestations of infection may include fever, headache, fatigue, depression, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans. Left untreated, late manifestations involving the joints, heart, and nervous system can occur. In most cases, the infection and its symptoms are eliminated with antibiotics, especially if diagnosis and treatment occur early.

You will notice that two of the symptoms noted here are depression and fatigue. Imagine someone with the early stages if Lyme disease but does not know he has the disease. He feels worn out and depressed. He goes to his doctor or psychiatrist, describes his depression, is not given a thorough physical examination so the presence of the Lymes infection is missed,

The psychiatrist,without checking for any one of a long list of ailments that can cause a person to feel depressed, diagnosed “depression” and wrote out a prescription for anti depressants. The physical cause is neglected so the illness gets worse. The psychotropic medication, supposed to treat a mental disorder that does not exist, causes physical and mental complications and the person gets worse.

In fact, Dr. Paul Fink, past president of the American Psychiatric Association, has admitted that every disorder in Psychiatry’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV) can be caused by Lyme Disease. Yet Psychiatrists when diagnosing, steadfastly ignore the spectrum of possible causes of an emotional condition and will  limit practice to pharmaceutical and other treatments that have done nothing but damage the brain and the individual.

Here then is a by no means exhaustive lisy of physical illnesses that can cause problems of the mind and mood:

Drugs, whether illicit street drugs such as cocaine or prescribed psychotropic medication, will at best provide a person with temporary relief by disrupting the routine activities of the nervous system. Given a tranquilizer, for example, the nerves and other body systems are forced to do things they normally would not do.

The human body, however, will fight back against the foregn invader, trying to process the chemical, and working hard to counterbalance its effect on the body. But the body was not designed for the continuous manufacture of euphoric, tranquilizing, or antidepressant sensations via the agency of disruptive chemicals and, quickly or slowly, its systems break down. Tissue damage may occur, nerves stop functioning normally, organs and hormonal systems go awry. Bizarre things start to happen: addiction, exhaustion, diminished sexual desire, trembling, nightmares, hallucinations, and psychosis. Side effects are, in fact, the body’s natural response to having a chemical disrupt its normal functioning.

In other words, the person deteriorates while, unaddressed or even undetected, the original physical illness remains and often worsens.

As a solution or cure to life’s problems, psychotropic drugs do not work. But proper medical treatment, detoxification of the body, antibiotics, setting broken bones, vitamins, nutrition, temperance and sufficient sleep and so forth all do.

The very LAST thing one should do when suffering some unwanted mental condition is take a psychiatric drug!

Three Ways To Help Prevent Stress Related Illnesses

Today we all live in times that we have not seen in half a century, not just the United States but world wide. The economic meltdown has everyone on edge. People are losing their jobs, or they are worried they may lose their job, and we all know what can happen next, people can lose their homes, their cars, and on and on, this can be very stressful. If you are single it can be stressful, but if you have a wife and kids this can be very, very stressful. Stress can be very dangerous to your health, it can cause all kinds of health problems, like high blood pressure, heart problems, eating disorders, alcoholism, and so on. It also can cause a strain in your family. I will show you 3 ways I use to prevent stress related illnesses.

1. Leave your work at work. Today people are working harder for lower pay. Companies are laying off people and making the rest of the employees pick up the slack for the same pay, and that makes people a little upset, and can cause all kinds of problems in the work force. I say just go in, do your job, and punch out. Leave your work at work. If you had a bad day at work, just get it out of your head right there, just think positive things like your kids, or any happy thoughts. Just tell yourself tomorrow will be better, and keep telling yourself that.

2. Get more training. If you do not like your job, you may want to get training for a new job, it’s never too late. I went to school for Electronics in the early 80’s, it was a good thing at the time but now all the manufacturing jobs are over seas, so I was forced to get retrained, just to make it in this new economy, that is if you want a good paying job. Having a new career with more money, and something you enjoy doing, can reduce stress a great deal. It can be very challenging if you have a family, but these days you can get an education online, and do the schooling on your own time.

3. Give yourself some alone time. This is probably the most important. Everyone needs a little time alone to just relax. We live in a world that is go, go, go, all the time, and no one takes the time to just, stop, and take a moment to just relax. People should give themselves at least a half hour, or even an hour a day, to just relax and do what ever makes you happy, like read a book, or go for a walk, or my favorite listen to music. Music is very relaxing, that’s why Dentists play soft music, to help people that stress out about going to the dentist. But remember, do this alone, no kids, no distractions.

In conclusion, stress is a growing problem, and it may get worse before it gets better. These are just of few things that I use to help me prevent stress related illnesses. If you would like more information on how to reduce stress in your life see link bellow.
