5 Easy Steps to Younger, More Vibrant Looking Skin

It’s a fact: Our skin is the largest organ in our body. Many people would be surprised to hear this. One might assume it was our lungs or even our brain that might be the largest living thing that is apart of us. But it is our skin – the protective layer of living cells that wraps around our body and shields it from the harsh conditions of everyday life.

Because our skin is the one thing that protects us from the climate, it can easily show age. Blemishes may start to appear; dead skin cells can make our face look old and faded. But we can take steps to make sure we take good care of this vital part of our body.

Our complexion and skin tone is a large part of who we are. And with just a few easy steps, you can be sure that your skin will look healthy and be healthy, too.

Step 1: Use the Sun Sparingly

Sunshine is a wondrous thing. It revitalizes our energy and provides essential vitamins through absorption through the skin. But too much of anything is a bad thing. If you are going to be exposed to the sun for a long period of time, be sure to go prepared. Bring a hat to shade you and prevent sunburn on the sensitive skin areas of your head, nose, and neck. Bring a sunscreen with at least 15 SPF, anything less will not block the harmful

rays of the sun.

Step 2: Avoid Bad Habits!

The old admonishment is true: bad habits die hard. Smoking, drinking excessively, and not hydrating enough are terrible habits for your skin. Your body is mostly comprised of water, and a lot of this is retained in your skin. Eight to twelve glasses of water a day is ideal. This will help keep your skin soft, supple, and blemish-free. But of these three, the biggest culprits of old, tired looking skin is smoking and drinking alcohol. Step 3: Take Care of Yourself!

Eight hours of sleep is ideal each night, but each person differs. Know your needs and follow through. Sleep is our body’s time to repair and regenerate. Give yourself the time to get peaceful, restful sleep without bright lights, distracting noises, or interruptions.

Step 4: Practice a Consistent Skin Care Routine

You are the only one who knows your body the best. Some people get calloused surfaces, others develop oily buildup on their foreheads, and still others may develop everyday irritation from dust and air pollutants. Whatever your routine, be sure to do it consistently and GENTLY. Never scrub or scour, just enough to remove build-up or dead skin cells. After cleansing, be sure to moisturize with a non-greasy moisturizer to keep your skin aerated and breathing.

Step 5: Research, Read, Learn

The best tool you have to keeping your skin healthy and vibrant is your own research. Research your skin type, tone, and needs to develop a skin care routine and lifestyle pattern that will ensure soft, beautiful skin all year long.
